Inquiry-Portfolio Criteria

WALT: Gather Information

Description:
Eb (dress from around the world)-
Every Wednesday we have been learning about the inquiry process while finding out about different cultural dress from around the world. The first stage of an inquiry is to gather information ‘Get It’. First we chose a culture we wanted to find out more about and then started researching.

Get It, Sort It, Use It Model

Evaluation:
1. What are you most proud of? The thing I am most proud of is that I found lot of information then I made a new creation that did not look the same to the indian headwear I was making.

 2. What did you find challenging? The challenging thing was attaching the side fabric to the wire.

 3. My next ‘Get It’ goal is? Is to make more indian patterns to make the piece more cultural.

Reading Sample

My reading goal this term was... Use and discussion to consider alternative  viewpoints.

WALT

GET IT...use a range of sources by questioning and predicting
SORT IT...analyse and sort information to answer my question: see if my thinking has changed, look for patterns by questioning inferring, summarising.

USE IT…discuss what I have found out with others and make connections.

TASK (Callum and Liam T your task is different: you need to write a description here of

what you are trying to find out.)
inquiring readers go through a process to gather, organise and respond to new information. We have been using  the ‘GET IT, SORT IT, USE IT’ process. After reading ‘Wonder’ by R.J.Palaccio our group felt moved to DO something but we didn’t know what! We all had lots of questions so we decided to research more about disabilities before deciding. I wanted to know more about

different disabilities. We tried to find the difference between a disability and a disease.

SUCCESS CRITERIA
I can research using different sources.
I can think logically, creatively, and reflectively.
I can make generalisations from patterns and connections

We made this poem as well, we got inspired by a poem called my invisible disability we renamed our poem we made up my visible disability. Here it is.

My body has a tear,
I have two paralysised legs,
And I'm half paralysised with fear.

My rage increases everyday,
And I'm the one who has to pay,
My angers growing right inside,
And yet I have no place to hide.

I've been forever cursed with this visabl disability
Which stops me from having,
Every cool ability,
This is my fatal flaw and the whole world can see,
ME!

Did my thinking change or stay the same during the ‘GET IT’ stage? My thinking changed because I found out new infomation (Exsample: I thought that desaises did not efect disabilties but they do.) Thats why my thinking changed.

From ‘SORTING IT’ I can make these generalisations: People with disabilities are normal people but they can not do something we can. Normally people with disabilities wasn't to be independent. People with disabilities think their normal and we are different.

‘USE IT’ (what did you do- those who did a social action, or what could you have done for this stage- for those who didn't know. My group did a poster that I showed you the image. We found out lots of facts and made connections to our poster.

The Learning Pit

WALT: The Learning Pit

Description: We have been learning about when good learning happens. The good learning happens in the PIT!

Task: Share what you know about the learning pit.

Evaluation:
Reflect on a time when you have been in the pit.
How did you feel when you were in the pit? I feel annoyed but know I'm going to get out.

What did you do to work out of the pit? You can do it never give up. Hold the grip and keep on trying.
Feedback/Feedforward:
I think you have done a great layout on your post. I like your learning pit thoughts and ideas. It shows what you know and understand. I think you could make it a little bit easier to read because the colours are really light. When you see it on the post. Rosalind:)

Showing Integrity

W.A.L.T: Show Integrity

Task: make a panoramic photo showing integrity

How I Show Integrity: I showed integrity by getting on with my writing without being told to.

How I Have Not Been Showing Integrity: Sometimes I just walk past some pencils when I could have just picked them up and then I would have been showing Integrity.

Why? To showcase our understanding of this terms value of Integrity. We will share this during our Student Led Conference.
When? Week 7
Who? The World

Description: Integrity means something you are doing when know one is looking and know one has told you to do something like put your day book away. What we are showing here is that Zac and Ross are dropping pencils and Aye is putting them away.

Reflection: I think me Ross, Aye and I did really well on our panoramic I still think we could work on what we are doing.

Feed back/Feed forward:

I think we did a great job making that awesome panorama. I don't know if the panorama will make aliens understand what integrity is. I think we still did an amazing job though.

W.A.L.T: Entertain

                                      Caving
As we drove through the waving bushes I had bugs crawling all over
me just thinking about it. Once we got the instructions I was
imagining the 2 trunked tree. Finally we found the cave. It was a
very big hole. I suddenly saw darkness as I took a few more steps closer
and slowly pushed down the button on my torch.
There were cave wetas everywhere. I felt a shiver run down my spine as I sank to the
ground, I  felt myself feel like a worm on I'ts tummy getting soaked from top to
bottom. In front of me there was a blanket of rocks and dirt. My hands were crying because they were so sweaty. This was a very deep dipping cave. We finally got out and I was a jack in the box. There smack! in the middle of my pupil
I saw a stream of light as if it was a streak of lightning.

Article

This is the article I chosehttp://www.google.com/url?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.kiwikidsnews.co.nz%2F57-million-children-school&sa=D&sntz=1&usg=AFQjCNEhRJcLpEWIACviX8uL5yX-y5mZog
I agree because they should defiantly be able aloud to go to school. The negative is that they have not enough money. There is a negative that some can afford to go to school.

Reading Goal

My Goal

- My goal for term 1 is to improve my vocabulary and understanding of different words.
It is important to me as a learner because when I grow up I might need the good juicy words. I am going to archive this goal by reading four novels with rich vocabulary this term that are about the same thing so I can understand the big idea more. I will know that I have archived this goal because I will be able to tell them all about the book.
