Conjunctions Writing

Description: In writing with Elly we have been learning to use conjunctions more in our
writing here is a piece of writing that I have written to show conjunction. The ones that
are highlighted yellow are the conjunctions I have used in my writing

Writing
As I look out the foggy window, I see santa claus run across a snowy thick roof
puff! Flakes of snow (shaped as snowflakes) drift and swirl around santa, he rises up
and lands on the floor of an old cottage, but the first thing santa spots is the mince pie and a nice big glass of orange juice. Santa makes such a loud gobbling noise that a little girl around about 6, skips into the room. She has orange hair and a few freckles placed neatly on her cheeks.

She spies santa dressed up in a red and white uniform. SANTA! She yells, she freezes then faints. Luckily santa has a present for her that is a doctor's kit. he quickly pours some fright medicine in her mouth and she awakes immediately.

Every week we learn about skills and movement that will help us play sports. This term’s focus has been around defense. We made a video showing some of the goals we have been practicing. I have highlighted the things I think I have done well YELLOW and one thing I would like to work on PINK.

Success Criteria:

Body Movement

  • Weight on balls of feet
  • Feet shoulder width apart
  • Knees flexed
  • Concentration and eyes on ball, head and eyes up
  • Push hard off outside foot and go forwards to attack pass
  • Quick small feet, stay on balls of feet
  • Arms within confines of body
  • Take feet to ball
  • Land with a SBP
Intercepting
  • Body angled to see player and ball
  • Anticipate pass and player movement
Restrictive Marking
  • Meet player as they start towards the ball/where they want to go
  • stay close to the attacking player
  • Head and eyes up, arms close to body to avoid obstruction/contact
  • Angle body so attacking player is ‘pushed’ away from where he/she wants to go
  • 0.9m from ball carrier

Evaluation: I think that I need to work on Push hard off outside foot and go forwards to attack pass.
One thing I think I did really well was pivoting out to the ball and away. I think I also need to work on landing in a stable position.

FeedBack and FeedForward: I think you did really well at having your knees bent so you can get that ball. Next time you could work on your SBP ( Stable body postion) because you are stepping when you have got the ball. Georgia

Visualization Writing

Date: 29th of April 2015

Purpose:  To write a piece of writing that has a picture you are trying to
create with enough describing in your writing to create a picture in the readers head.

A flutter of blossoms with the warm spring air a breeze of hazelnut seeds
with oak colored twigs, break off and blow away in the wind. A orange and shiny black creature approaches a twig breathing in the wonderful blossom smell. Cherry erupts the garden with beautiful flowers, blooming in the warm afternoon sun.

Children prance around the garden with delight, the grass with clear dew drops drying out in the warming sun.

PLUCK! An apple off the tree and CRUNCH! the juice pours out, with a splash, the juice soaked into the dirt, they start giggling and laughing as it drips down their chins onto their tops.

Writing Sample

WALT:  Entertain

My writing goal this term was use a variety of simple, complex, and compound sentences

SUCCESS CRITERIA
I have used a variety of simple, complex and compound sentences to build interest and suspense.

Structure
I have organised and sequenced my ideas into paragraphs for purpose and effect.

TASK: craft a free-choice piece of writing that shows how I am developing my goal

First Piece:

Focus Piece:

Evaluation
How has your writing has improved this term? Yes because Suzanne has taught me that I can't tell the reader you describe to the reader and I think I have improved that.

The part of my story I am most proud of is paragraph... I think I have made the reader build more suspense because I have used lots of words like suddenly, just then I heard.

Next time, what is a goal you can work towards? My goal for next time is to create more imaginary I will do that by using more similes and rich language.

Feedback/Feedforward: I really like the way you have made me want to read more so I knew were she was. You have some very cool similes and fit into the sentences. There were a couple of words that were mentioned a few times in some of your sentences. Like realised.

Reading Sample

My reading goal this term was... Use and discussion to consider alternative  viewpoints.

WALT

GET IT...use a range of sources by questioning and predicting
SORT IT...analyse and sort information to answer my question: see if my thinking has changed, look for patterns by questioning inferring, summarising.

USE IT…discuss what I have found out with others and make connections.

TASK (Callum and Liam T your task is different: you need to write a description here of

what you are trying to find out.)
inquiring readers go through a process to gather, organise and respond to new information. We have been using  the ‘GET IT, SORT IT, USE IT’ process. After reading ‘Wonder’ by R.J.Palaccio our group felt moved to DO something but we didn’t know what! We all had lots of questions so we decided to research more about disabilities before deciding. I wanted to know more about

different disabilities. We tried to find the difference between a disability and a disease.

SUCCESS CRITERIA
I can research using different sources.
I can think logically, creatively, and reflectively.
I can make generalisations from patterns and connections

We made this poem as well, we got inspired by a poem called my invisible disability we renamed our poem we made up my visible disability. Here it is.

My body has a tear,
I have two paralysised legs,
And I'm half paralysised with fear.

My rage increases everyday,
And I'm the one who has to pay,
My angers growing right inside,
And yet I have no place to hide.

I've been forever cursed with this visabl disability
Which stops me from having,
Every cool ability,
This is my fatal flaw and the whole world can see,
ME!

Did my thinking change or stay the same during the ‘GET IT’ stage? My thinking changed because I found out new infomation (Exsample: I thought that desaises did not efect disabilties but they do.) Thats why my thinking changed.

From ‘SORTING IT’ I can make these generalisations: People with disabilities are normal people but they can not do something we can. Normally people with disabilities wasn't to be independent. People with disabilities think their normal and we are different.

‘USE IT’ (what did you do- those who did a social action, or what could you have done for this stage- for those who didn't know. My group did a poster that I showed you the image. We found out lots of facts and made connections to our poster.
